1. Keep Calm & Leather On
We all wait eagerly every year to wear our sexy leather jackets so here are the picks for this season.
Coco: I’m so excited it’s time to get the leather jackets out. But this time I want something other than a standard leather jacket. So I’ll go with this sexy leather dress coat by Emporio Armani FW2015. Sassy & dressy all at the same time.
O-Ren: Nothing like a sexy, well-cut leather trench from Mugler to ward off the winter weather. This one leather coat will take you from work meetings to afterhours. Pair it with trousers or pencil skirts, leave it open or tightly belted, contrast it with sharp patterns or soft silk blouses underneath, this leather coat is the one-stop fashion accessory this winter.
2. Killing us softly
Everyone will be looking for the staple black, camel or white so we suggest go for softer colours in pastels and corals.
Coco: Say hello to this gorgeous number from Emilio Pucci. Love the rounded edges and large fit. My pastel parka 🙂
O-Ren: This white with a strike of the softest canary yellow from Narciso Rodriguez is my go-to choice for a coat in soft colour. Love the lean tailored silhouette of the coat. The whole effect is of a modern art coat. Collector’s item this one.
3. The ‘all-occasions’ knee-length coat
Your standard but much needed knee length coat that covers all bases.
Coco: Love the clean lines and minimalism of this coat from The Row. It’s versatile and elegant and I did want to stay away from the standard black.
O-Ren: What a gorgeous coat! Whether you lean towards Taylor Swift as your style icon or Rihanna, this coat works both fashion camps equally well. Love the dress like silhouette. Got to have this one in my wardrobe! A timeless piece I can’t stop gushing over!
4. Dark but not dark
Some dark winter colours in the wardrobe are a must have.
Coco: Now dark doesn’t mean I can’t be vibrant. So this Issey Miyake coat from the ‘Colorscope’ collection is perfect to add some cheer to the winter gloom. The colour is deep and that scooped hood neck stands out.
O-Ren: A classic tartan, equestrian-inspired, in a lady-like A-line shape, with shearling collars and quilted inside. I’m game!
5. Digging Trenches
Winter will be incomplete without Trenches. So take your pick.
Coco: Gucci had me at that colour. It’s rich and so chic. Slender fitted and just the right length, for once I’m not missing Burberry 🙂
O-Ren: This Vivienne Westwood coat is a minimal yet a new take on the classic trench. The short cape top is detachable to wear a more structured sleeveless trench when you wish.
6. Max(ing) it out
Maxi Coats are a major rage this season. So gear up.
Coco: This dull copper gold fluid number from John Galliano is winter made sexy. I can just see it teemed with an LBD. Very very sexy.
O-Ren: This shapely, almost figure-hugging, coat from Hairder Ackermann is my pick. Snug and stylish, this long coat can be styled up with a metallic gold broad belt (think Nikhil Thampi!). Or with a gorgeous brooch. Need be, this coat can double up as an evening dress.
7. Shape shifting
FW2015 is all about interesting shapes. Forget form fitted wonders and slinky second skin coats. All brands will be exploring very interesting shapes this season.
Coco: It was love at first sight with this Fendi pristine white coat. A real investment buy this one as it’s versatile and will be trendy for many seasons to come.
O-Ren: The Delpozo coat is like entering a Zen Garden. I’m sure this is what O-Ren could easily pull-off a sword fight with in Kill Bill. Lovely fluid almost trench-like shape, yet somehow edgy.
8. Caped Crusaders
Ponchos & capes have become quite a winter staple over the last few years. This year too there’s plenty to choose from.
Coco: This vivacious red poncho in tartan pattern from Badgley Mischka will be my off-duty wardrobe staple.
O-Ren: The Max Mara cape had me at the colour! Over-sized cape sleeves, the obi-style belt, trench-like sharpness to the main body and all the sexy fluidity of a cape, this is my choice to lead my winter crusade.
9. Issue a short statement
Your casual winter wear is incomplete without a Pea Coat or two.
Coco: I picked this smart high neck and tight waisted short coat from Isabel Marant. It’s got a great moto chic vibe and I’m a sucker for that wide belt detail.
O-Ren: Something in the winter wardrobs needs look look borrowed from the boys. And this Dsquared short coat is it. Military style design that looks like your man was chivalrous enough to lend you his jacket, we love this.
10. The ‘it’ accessory coat
The winter wardrobe is incomplete without THE STATEMENT COAT.
Coco: This Balenciaga wonder is the statement that will brook no argument. And love the diagonal slit skirt too. In fact, I could pick every piece from this collection. Would that I could.
O-Ren: Yet another dressy pick from McQueen, this coat speaks sexy like nothing else. Sport it and end all arguments on who’s the hottest of them all.
